‘SOPHIA’ is a group exhibition of sculptures, paintings and animatronics by Cécile B. Evans, Celia Hempton and Emily Whitebread. A text composed from the artificial intelligence robot Sophia accompanied the show and informed the curation of works. Sophia was created by Hanson Robotics in collaboration with AI developers (including Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc and SingularityNET). The robot is a humanoid identifying as female and is the first robot to be granted citizenship in the world by Saudi Arabia. She has been video taped advocating for the destruction of humanity.
